There are cases when such dimensions are inappropriate or do not fit in the niche reserved for them, and it is impossible to do without an air-cooling device. For this, the smallest air conditioner is produced, which can be installed even in a small window or even put it on the windowsill.

Two varieties of small devices
Small varieties of cooling devices are divided by structure into two types:
- monoblock models, which are also divided into several types;
- split systems are more common wall mounted air conditioners.
You need to choose the right one based on the installation location. The main noticeable difference regarding comfort: monoblock models are much louder than other brothers. This is due to the fact that the compressor, one way or another, is indoors. In the nursery or office, this can cause significant discomfort.
More on monoblock options
A monoblock device for cooling air is not the same as a wall-mounted air conditioner. There are 3 varieties:
- Window - the first invented models of this nature for the home. They are compact - from 40 × 30 × 35 centimeters, so that they fit quietly even in a small window. Suitable for rooms with an area of 6 square meters or more. The main companies that produce high-quality models of this type are Haier and Midea. The quietest and most expensive option is Toshiba (the Japanese company is the market leader in quality devices in principle), but the purchase of such a device will cost a pretty penny. Window options have the following advantages:
- very easy to mount;
- installation is cheap;
- no need for expensive complicated maintenance;
- during operation do not require large expenditures, including electricity;
- capable of long life.
- Mobile devices look like a separate unit with an air outlet through which air is taken from the room and taken out to cool the condenser to the street. Their sizes begin from such indicators: 60 × 40 × 30 centimeters. There are drawbacks to such models: they heat up quite a lot in the area of the air outlet, condensate builds up on some models, the air outlet from the room slows down cooling somewhat due to warm flows from other rooms, and the short air outlet is relatively expensive. The main manufacturer of high-quality devices is considered "Electrolux", whose systems are distinguished by a slightly reduced noise level. Benefits:
- easy to transport;
- there are no freon elements, and in some designs and drainage, because the condensate evaporates on the heat exchanger;
- No installation needed
- low power - it is simply impossible to catch a cold;
- the facade of the house will not deteriorate, since there is no block that should be located there;
- if the installation was not taken into account during the repair, the mobile device can be used without damaging the “appearance” of the room;
- can be used wherever installation of other models is impossible;
- nice view.
- Portable air conditioners. This is a very small device that you can take with you on the road. Its size is about like a small coffee maker. The main cooling element is a cylinder with frozen water. It works from the mains or with a charged battery (usually about 8 hours). Benefits:
- you can take with you on any trip or move from room to room in an apartment or house;
- no installation is required - only an outlet, and then every eight hours;
- reduces humidity.
The listed varieties, in addition to very small portable ones, are rather “thick” blocks. If you need a flat version, you should turn to split systems.
About split systems
The split system is a wall-mounted air conditioner, which is divided into two blocks: external and internal. The first looks like a rather large, noisy box, which is located on the outside of the wall. The second is like a narrow, small block mounted indoors. The advantages of such systems:
- the inner panel hangs quite high on the wall and does not interfere under the arms, legs, does not catch the eye of small children and animals, which extends the “life” of the device;
- Looks great, has many designs from different manufacturers;
- has high power compared to monoblock options;
- the interior is much smaller than the window or mobile version;
- power - 1.3-1.5 kW;
- really low noise;
- Great for rooms from 10 square meters.
There are also disadvantages:
- expensive installation and the need for regular (about once a year) maintenance;
- damaged building facade;
- the device itself is quite expensive;
- if the repair is expensive, you still have to drill holes.
In general, small split systems are the thinnest air conditioners that only exist in the technogenic world. There are a great many manufacturers and varieties of them, however, traditionally the Japanese are considered to be the first in this market, and the Americans are the second.
The smallest air conditioner in the world
In the USA, they worked hard to create the smallest apparatus. This wall-mounted air conditioner is very tiny. It was invented for prison cells of several square meters, which contain especially dangerous or valuable criminals, arrested diplomats, political prisoners and so on.
This is done to preserve the health of prisoners. Statistics have shown that more powerful cooling leads to chronic diseases. In addition, a large device broke down faster and consumed more energy than a miniature version, which is why it was recognized unprofitable.
