Many people think that buying an expensive and high-quality punch, do not worry about its durability. But it may soon turn out that some part of the tool has fallen into disrepair. Most often, this indicates serious violations during operation. Although the majority at first scolded the manufacturer or sin on the seller who slipped the defective product. Next, several tips will be presented that are guaranteed to significantly increase the life of the drill.

Fully Unwound Mains Wire

It would seem that the simplest rule, but they are often neglected. The fact is that if the wire is long enough and when the tool is actively used, it is in a winded state, the insulating layer of the cord can begin to melt. At the same time, the internal electrics of the hammer may suffer. This is due to the fact that a fairly strong current passes through the network cable to power the motor, and the coiled cord contributes to the appearance of induction.

Also, the wire should not be bent too much at the interface with the product body or the mains plug. Cables used in construction tools often have a sufficiently high strength, but this does not mean that they cannot break.

Drill Grease Application

The rotary hammer is designed to drill holes in extremely solid bodies. It is normal for him to work at high loads, but without proper maintenance, the tool will quickly become unusable. In conjunction with the tool, the manufacturer provides a special lubricant that covers the working surfaces inside the case. It protects parts from the negative effects of dust entering through ventilation slots. Inside the tool, this grease should be updated periodically in accordance with the requirements of the instructions.

Drill shanks should be coated with the same grease before each use. Neglect this! The fact is that inside the SDS-clamp, the shank has a small longitudinal mobility, due to which the load on the gearbox is slightly reduced. In this longitudinal movement, a friction force arises that raises the temperature and contributes to the wear of the clamp and drill shank. Shank grease needs to be renewed after long work, usually 150 holes made.

The shank of the drill should be lubricated with a thin layer, it is not at all necessary to cover it with a large amount of lubricant. As for the grease itself, manufacturers recommend the use of proprietary options, but the simplest lithol may be suitable.

Switching modes during operation

The operation mode of the tool must be switched only after the clamp rotation is completely stopped. Otherwise, the internal mechanisms of the hammer may jam. It is possible that during switching attempts during operation, one of the modes will cease to function and will require mandatory repair of the internal mechanism.

Also, you should not use the idling mode, since then the impact force falls on the internal mechanisms of the device.

At the end of the topic, it is worth adding a few more recommendations:

  • The punch should not run continuously for more than half an hour. In this case, it is necessary to take a break in work for about 10 minutes;
  • warps of the drill should be avoided, otherwise it may crack;
  • Do not put too much pressure on the tool during drilling. This will not add impact force, but only adversely affect internal mechanisms.
