A chainsaw is a necessary tool for various kinds of work, starting from harvesting firewood for a fire and ending with clearing the road from fallen trees. Despite the fact that modern saws are equipped with additional parts for protection, the equipment is still unsafe. Not only health, but sometimes life depends on how much the rules for using a chainsaw are followed.

Correctly sharpen the teeth and adjust the limiting protrusions

Sharpening of teeth implies not only this process itself, but also the choice of the right angle. For this purpose, a template is used, which is supplied by the manufacturer together with the saw or it is bought additionally.

Separately, it is worth noting aspects of the proper use of the saw. During operation, the soil is often touched. It does not seem to threaten anything serious. But in reality this is not so. The teeth grind on the ground, which leads to rapid wear of the device.

The restrictive protrusions are not set too high. If you do the opposite, then they risk and not touch the wood, that is, the work will not be effective. In order to make the correct height of the protrusion, use a template.

Brake the chain before starting

A properly working saw turns on and off in a short time. If fuel gets on the candle, it is additionally blown. Be sure to have a key with which you can unscrew the candle. Then the fuel will pour out and the place will be cleaned - the saw will work better.

Be sure to check the braking of the circuit before starting. The inertial brake is applied. If this is not done, then you may encounter a brake malfunction already during operation. Of course, this is very dangerous - sharp teeth can injure the master.

Break in before use

The tool is mounted on a straight and stable surface, making sure that the tire does not touch anything. After this, the algorithm of actions is as follows:

  • take the brake handle so that the chain brake is inoperative;
  • turn on the ignition;
  • set the air shutter in the closed position;
  • transfer the throttle to start;
  • press the handle to the bottom;
  • to press the handle;
  • pull to a position until the dogs engage with the drum;
  • make a sharp jerk;
  • set the shutter to its original position.

The process is repeated 2-3 times.

Check chip thickness after work

Chips from 3-4 millimeters indicate excellent sharpening. If it is smaller, then sharpening must be carried out again.

Do not saw with the end of the tire or contact the ground.

If the master is sawing with the end of the tire, then there is a chance that the tool, when hit on a hard face, will be thrown directly at the person. Naturally, this can result in personal injury. The best option is to carry out work exclusively on the middle part of the saw.

Contact with the ground is not dangerous. But in this case, the tip of the saw will quickly become blunt and will have to be sharpened again.

Do not use other people's tires and chains when replacing parts

It is not known how long the tires and chains used, what resource remained, what structural defects they have. The use of other parts significantly increases the risk. If the manufacturer is already unable to provide warranty service, then there is always the opportunity to contact a private company.

And finally, if you are just practicing or starting, then choose chainsaw models that do not have high power, therefore, the number of revolutions is not so large. They can perform almost all popular work, for example, sawing logs, making a table or details for a designer gazebo.

A chainsaw is always held with two hands.For safety reasons, they protect themselves with tight shoes, glasses, gloves and tight clothes.
